The International Pool | Spa | Patio Expo rolled the dice and won when industry professionals came together Nov. 12-14 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.
“We were genuinely impressed with the number of beautiful exhibits, engaging displays and the wide variety of unique products being presented at the Expo in 2013,” said Tracy Garcia, Hanley Wood Exhibitions show director. “It was clear the exhibitors had spent a lot of time and energy ensuring an incredible show floor experience for the attendees.”
The event attracted 539 exhibiting companies to a show floor that spanned 140,850 net square feet. Verified attendance grew 16 percent this year compared with the 2012 Expo in New Orleans, according to organizers.
The first night kicked off with the Welcome Party at LIGHT Nightclub, sponsored by the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals. “It was a huge success, with more than 800 people attending,” Garcia said.
First-time exhibitor BioSafe Systems, based in East Hartford, Conn., was pleased with attendee turnout and traffic in the exhibit hall. “It was very good,” said Colin Garry, pool and spa account manager. “The first two days, especially.”
His company has already signed up for next year’s Expo, scheduled for Nov. 5-7, 2014, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.
In addition to the trade show, IPSPE offered 40 brand-new classes as part of its educational program.
Attendee Chad Sarver, owner of Platinum Pool Service in Omaha, Neb., brought several members of his staff to the Expo to take advantage of the seminars.
“We always enjoy the educational aspect of the show,” he said. “There are very few events that offer the opportunity for learning that you get at the national show.”
Members of his administrative staff took advantage of the business seminars, while his technicians brushed up on water testing skills. “It was a good chance for our staff to learn,” Sarver added. “I thought the show was beneficial for all of us.”
New this year was the Hayward School of Business, which had six sessions designed to help increase the effectiveness, productivity and profitability of the attendees’ companies. Many of the sessions were standing room only.
In addition to walking the show floor, Sarver said he also found time to network with other business owners and glean ideas from them. It’s an opportunity he enjoys.
