Every other year like clockwork, the Barcelona pool show has drawn pool and aquatics professionals from around the world, but this year is a little different. Responding to recommendations from Spanish pool professionals and the trade group ASOFAP, organizers took two steps: They moved the show date to a week earlier than originally planned and, more importantly, they gave it a new name and image. By officially adding “wellness” to the pool moniker, they’re trying to meet the demand for water-related facilities and uses associated with health, well-being and leisure.

Piscina & Wellness Barcelona is scheduled for Oct. 13-16, 2015, at the Gran Via Exhibition Centre, which is very close to the Barcelona airport. More than 200 exhibitors have signed up and 11,000 square meters of booth space already booked, as of this writing. Organizers expect attendees and exhibitors from approximately 100 countries to descend on the venue in mid-October to check out the event.

The show will feature myriad products and much information for pool professionals, regardless of whether they specialize in residential or commercial pools. The residential sector will cover prefab and concrete pools; cleaning equipment; filters and water-treatment systems; lighting, accessories and complementary equipment; pool covers and safety equipment; software and management for service professionals, and more. The commercial sector will include waterparks and slides; theming, decoration and safety equipment for aquatics facilities; equipment for sports and recreational facilities, and more.

On the educational front, the show will host a number of congresses, conferences and seminars — for example, the Wellness & Spa Experiences event with its presentations of market research, case studies, and the latest trends in the wellness industry.

Rounding out the show-floor offerings will be a new products area, the Demo Zone and the Innovation Zone. The Piscina & Wellness Barcelona Awards will honor the most innovative and sustainable products in the swimming pool, wellness center and aquatics facility arenas.

Advance registration online is available at the show’s website.
