Small wonder: The clients, who have children, wanted a waterfall, an outdoor living room and large area for entertaining from adult gatherings to kids’ parties. The 14-by-28-foot pool boasts a raised deep-end wall of local stone, which accommodates the yard’s changes in elevation. Nice touches include steel pool stairs covered with an earth-tone colored vinyl liner for a natural, seamless look, and a sculpted wall that showcases the sheer descent waterfall.

That’s entertainment: The homeowners’ love of entertaining made it imperative that this corner lot in a Toronto suburb could handle large dinner parties. The pool wall, which was designed to double as an informal seating area, helps make that possible. But the heart of the party is the outdoor living room, with its comfy sofa and chairs, natural gas fireplace and 40-inch TV. Marc Luff says what he likes most about this project is its use of space, materials choices and colors.
