Congratulations to all the hard-working companies that comprise this year’s Top 50 Builders list!

This was an especially competitive year, garnering more entries than I’ve ever seen in my four years at Pool & Spa News. Since it was revamped in 2012 to include criteria other than simply revenue, interest in the Top 50 Builders program has grown substantially, and the firms that made it to the top deserve a hearty round of applause.

I’m pleased to say that company MVPs are making a comeback. Two years ago, we asked each of our Top 50 Builders to name an employee whose contribution had the most impact to the firm’s success. It was a way to honor those individuals for their hard work and dedication. The results were overwhelmingly positive. I heard from company CEOs who appreciated the opportunity to shine a spotlight on their wonderful employees, but expressed frustration at having to choose just one. So we decided to not only bring it back this year, but revisit it every other year, giving our Top 50 firms the chance to recognize their best people. You’ll see these tributes woven throughout the package. It’s truly heartwarming to see that their efforts are noticed and appreciated by their employers.

The Customer Service Award is one of the most coveted aspects of Top 50 and a perennial favorite. For this, we joined forces once more with GuildQuality, a company that performs customer-satisfaction surveys exclusively for the construction industry, to identify the Top 5 builders in customer service. This year’s winners are Superior Pools of Southwest Florida, Pulliam Aquatech Pools, California Pools & Landscape, Hauk Custom Pools and Gib-San Pools. Each firm’s CEO speaks eloquently about one of five key elements to their exceptional customer service success.

In addition, we’re building on what we began last year. As you know, a spot on the list brings prestige to a company, and its marketing value is incalculable. In an effort to help our builders leverage their Top 50 status, we created individual firm pages on our website. These pages have unique URLs that can be used on company websites, marketing materials, social media platforms — anywhere that can be of help to a builder’s marketing efforts. Each firm page features not only essential company information, but also important facts, such as the firm’s Top 50 ranking, stats on revenue and number of excavations, a quote from the company leader and much more.
