Thirty children in the Chicago area have Elizabeth, N.J.-based Hayward Pool Products to thank for their brand-new bikes.
At Hayward’s recent global sales meeting in Itasca, Ill., attendees were presented with an unusual team-building challenge: Compete to “win” bicycle parts, then use them to build actual bikes, which would be judged by their peers. The participants, who were sales, marketing and technical service personnel from eight different countries, built 30 bikes. Unbeknownst to them, the finished bikes were to be given to a group of children from WeGo Together for Kids, a West Chicago children’s organization, at the end of the four-day event.
“Team building always plays an important role in our sales meetings,” said Mike Massa, vice president of Hayward Sales. “But this may have been the first time where the exercise resulted in so much pure joy.” He describes the moment the unsuspecting children walked into the room and were told that the newly built bikes were theirs to keep: “I don’t know who had bigger smiles on their faces, the kids or the Hayward team.”
In other news, the firm announced its special rebate program for pool owners in Arizona. If the temperature reaches or exceeds the record-breaking 118 degrees Fahrenheit at the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport on July 4th, each pre-qualifying pool buyer will receive a $10,000 rebate from Hayward.
The “Beat the Heat” campaign applies to qualifying new Arizona inground pools purchased between Feb. 10–28 from participating Totally Hayward pool builders. Under the terms of the promotion, anyone purchasing a new inground pool from a participating authorized builder in Arizona and whose purchase included a new Hayward pump, filter and at least one additional new Hayward branded product, such as a heater, heat pump, controller, salt chlorinator or two LED lights, is eligible to register to win. n
