TECHNICAL SUPPORT SPECIALIST
The Technical Support Specialist (TSS) performs many functions in the technical department, first and foremost of which is to provide advanced or level 2 technical support to Horizon’s dealer clientele via phone, email, or other means available. The TSS will engage in troubleshooting calls from dealers and will need to exhibit exemplary phone and communications skills in order to quickly focus in, diagnose, and offer a solution to the dealer’s question. Further, the TSS will be expected to perform bench repair services on a wide variety of air activated and electronic control systems for swimming pools and spas. The TSS will expected to be conversant with all levels and ages of technology ranging from simple air systems to today’s state of the art electronic control systems.
Expected Skills and Traits:
- Being personable is essential for effective communications with customers and peers.
- The ability to repair equipment and control systems in a bench setting is required.
- A good general knowledge of various types of control systems in the pool and spa industry will be a required starting point.
- The TSS will also exhibit a well-rounded knowledge of non-industry specific electrical and plumbing systems, principles of hydraulics, structural aptitude, and gas (Nat & LP) appliances.
- The TSS will posses good troubleshooting skills and will think in a logical fashion.
- The ability to “multi-task” will be essential to long-term success.
- The TSS cannot be easily frustrated with dealers’ inability to communicate clearly – patience is essential.
- As Horizon is heavily dependent on state of the art computerized systems in it’s operation, the TSS will be thoroughly familiar and comfortable with the use of computers in all aspects of the job.
- The ability to learn good sales techniques will be essential if the TSS is take advantage of opportunities to add sales value to the repair or troubleshooting call.
- Above all, the TSS will need to have the ability to be self-motivated in all areas of responsibility.
