A March House Judiciary committee hearing on sales tax addressed the imbalance giving online retailers a price advantage over traditional brick-and-mortar retailers, and according to the National Retail Federation , it was a positive step forward. "While no conclusions were reached, the hearing provided the retail industry reason to be optimistic that Congress is serious about addressing the sales tax disparity and sincere in its desire to level the playing field for all retailers.
