An Oklahoma man has pleaded guilty to taking payments in 2011 and 2012 for the installation of inground residential pools that were never completed.

Stephan Edgar Cook, owner of Cabanas Plus Exotic Pools, a construction/landscaping firm in Norman, Okla., collected a series of payments from each customer and then used the money for personal use, according to local news reports. Cook entered a guilty plea in Cleveland County District Court on Jan. 4 to six felony counts — five embezzlement charges and one charge citing a “pattern of criminal offenses.”

He received 25 years of probation and was ordered to pay $269,000 in restitution to the homeowners, according to state Attorney General Scott Pruitt, whose Consumer Protection Unit investigated the case.
