Architect Julia Morgan (1872-1957) designed some of the world's most exquisite pools, and she did it at a time when there were very few other women in her field. Morgan is credited with designing the "Neptune" and "Roman" pools at San Simeon's Hearst Castle, along with a large number of YWCA pools. As Hadley Hall Meares points out in this article for Curbed San Francisco, her work remains as a lasting legacy to her influence on architecture, and women's rights.
