Nominations for the 2014 Dr. Neil Lowry Memorial Grant currently are being accepted by the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals. The $5,000 grant is awarded annually to an outstanding public health official or department, to be used for continuing education or technical and operational activities that promote safer, healthier use of recreational water, such as pools, hot tubs, natural waters and waterparks. The award is given in memory of Lowry, an industry educator, longtime APSP member and consultant to the pool/spa industry and governments in Canada and the USA. Nomination forms are available online at APSP.org/Lowry; deadline for submissions is June 6. The recipient will be selected by a subcommittee of the APSP Recreational Water Committee. Last year’s recipient was Florida Health Department-Brevard County, Environmental Health Services Dept.
