Top 25 Forces

Pool & Spa News takes a close look at the most compelling forces influencing the industry today.

By Pool & Spa News Staff

November 2004
Whether it is people, organizations, companies, philosophies or trends, many forces have shaped the pool and spa industry into what it is today. But who and what exactly are these forces and what changes have they wrought?

Over a period of several weeks, the editorial staff at Pool & Spa News focused on a rather unwieldy list of forces, narrowing it down to a manageable 25. But because we didn’t want to tread the same old course, we tried to look at the iconic topics — such as the NSPI reorganization, industry consolidation and tort reform — in a different light.

We also went off the beaten path to examine forces that affect change in more subtle, yet profound ways.

Where does that leave us? Well, it’s been said that to know where you’re going, you need to look back at where you’ve been. Ultimately, we hope these features and profiles will help you do just that. As renowned financier Warren Buffet once said, “In the business world, the rearview mirror is always clearer than the windshield.”
