Environmental Test Systems Wins Award
|
The National Spa & Pool Institutes Retailers Council awarded Environmental Test Systems Inc., a manufacturer of pool and spa water test strips in Elkart, Ind., the Best of Show Purchase Display Award at the International Pool & Spa Expo in Dallas.
We like to provide our retailers with creative point-of-purchase items that meet their needs, said Drew Chuppe, marketing manager (shown). The staff is very proud to receive the award.
Twelve companies displayed their free merchandising support pieces during the annual trade show. The Retailers Council plans to offer manufacturers another chance at the award at next years expo.

Afras Industries Expands
|
Afras Industries Inc., an Agoura Hills, Calif.-based company that provides engineering services and research and development to the water and pool industries, announced the acquisition of limited assets of Alloy Brass Foundry Inc. ABF manufactures pool and spa equipment in the City of Commerce, Calif., for residential and commercial applications.

Joe Stone Named Eagle Award Winner
|
Joe Stone, CEO of Balboa Instruments Inc., a manufacturer of pool and spa controls based in Tustin, Calif., was the 2002 recipient of the Eagle Award, given by the National Spa & Pool Institutes Hot Tub Council at the International Pool & Spa Expo. The award recognizes individuals who have steadily helped promote the hot tub industry.
Joe was chosen because of all his activities on behalf of the spa industry, said Larry Nameche, chairman of the awards committee. He has devoted time for education, chaired marketing committees and has twice been chair of the Hot Tub Council. The award is for his unselfish service.

Genesis 3 Moves Corp. Headquarters

Genesis 3 Design Group has moved its corporate headquarters to Atlanta, with Nancy Bair as the new executive director. Bair has worked as a marketing consultant in the waterscape industry for the past seven years and was the first art director for The Robb Report, an international lifestyle magazine for the wealthy. Bair will help Genesis 3 roll out a new marketing and public relations campaign. | Southeastern Pool & Spa Show to Host Casino Night |
Organizers of the Southeastern Pool & Spa Show have added a Casino Night and spouses program to the event, set for Feb. 5-7 in Atlanta. Casino Night replaces the traditional welcome reception Thursday, Feb. 5. Games will include blackjack, craps, roulette, poker and a money wheel, with prizes auctioned off at evenings end.
The design awards presentation, usually slated for Thursday night, will occur at a brunch Friday morning. Finally, spouses may tour Buckhead, an affluent suburb on the citys outskirts, with stops at the Governors mansion, Atlanta History Center and Swan House Mansion. | NESPA Calls for Scholarship Applications |
The Northeast Spa & Pool Association is taking applications for the annual Anthony Rizzo Scholarships until Jan. 1. Scholarships are awarded to employees of NESPA member companies, to be used toward any of NESPAs educational programs. Scholarship amounts change each year depending on available funds, but usually range from $400 to $1,000. Three will be handed out in 2003. All NESPA members will receive an application through the mail, or can download one from the groups Web site at www.nespapool.org.
