A proposed ordinance limiting the size of new pools in Port St. Lucie, Fla., has been dropped by city planners following opposition by contractors and pool builders. According to Assistant City Manager Bonnie Dyga, the proposal would have restricted pool size to 1,000 square feet including decks, patios and screen enclosures. Instead, the city will rework the ordinance to restrict pool size to the setback area the city uses to maintain facilities. As long as the pool doesnt fall within this area, it can be as big as the owner wants, Dyga said.
